Only the second vintage of Lady May, named in honour of May-Eliane de Lencquesaing, this is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Petit Verdot, aged for 24 months in oak. Opening with aromas of blond tobacco, topsoil and loam alongside gently maturing blackcurrant fruit, it is an extraordinarily deep and complex wine given that the vines were only four years old. It is noticeably Médocain with a hint of oregano that hasn’t been polished away, grainy but rounded tannins and gentle, flowing acidity underpinning the whole.
