Smaller berries were a feature in 2016, the first of a trio of drought vintages to hit South Africa, and there is a definite concentration here with dried cherry and baked red plum fruit and slightly minty alcohol coming through. This vintage has a warm climate, sweet-fruited character that definitely feels more typically southern hemisphere than Bordelais. Intense and sweet-fruited, this is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot, which spent 24 months in new French oak.
