Barranco del Prado is Javier Arizcuren’s portrait of how Rioja might have been. His Garnacha blend contains two varieties that are very rare today, as they - and Garnacha itself - were supplanted long ago by the more reliable Tempranillo. Arizcuren’s fortune is to be able to work with very old Garnacha, including a prephylloxeric vineyard of around 120 years at 700m. Very refined and elegant with a pure expression of fruit.
