Conde de los Andes is a brand owned since 2014 by Muriel Wines, which also produces Marqués de Elciego and Viña Eguía in Rioja, among others across Spain. Bottled in 2016 after 20 months' ageing in mainly new French oak, this vintage is technically a reserva, but as it is the only red made under the Conde de los Andes label, the group prefers for consumers to buy the wine on its own merits rather than by classification. It has a lovely balance of fresh acidity, spicy oak structure and concentrated dark fruit,  to ensure long ageing.
