Lidl, Graciano, Rioja 2016

100% Graciano Rioja can be a thing of beauty and quite different to your more familiar Tempranillo examples. This has velvety, inky dark fruits with some juicy concentration and a touch of minerality. It finishes very dry and woody, but you can draw those fruits back out with a rack of ribs or seared duck breast. Lidl also have the Laertes Rey Graciano Rioja available for an extra £1, which is a more old-school, oaky style with chocolate, tar and earthy red fruits.
