Gran Reserva

The 2009 was bottled in 2014; the Gran Reserva is sourced entirely from La Plana, located at nearly 500m and its 80-year-old vines are all dedicated to this iconic bottling. The aromatics are perfumed and powerful, though they show plenty of complexity. The Mazuelo was increased to 19% in the warm year of 2009. The Tempranillo was fermented in American oak barrels, and the Mazuelo in French barriques for 26 months – aromas of dried strawberries, black liquorice and dusty blackberries. The palate retains a freshness despite the hot year, as red and blue fruits mingle with warm spices, oak-driven flecks of cinnamon and delicious savoury garrigue.
