Baron de Ley produced this wine for Tesco's Finest range. As a gran reserva, it has spent plenty of time in both oak and bottle, but it still feels like there's plenty of life left in it. It has fine, grippy, chocolatey tannins which frame a medium-bodied palate of cedar, tobacco, currants and plummy black fruits.

A well-priced mature Rioja, perfect for the Sunday roast. It is aged for 24 months in cask (50% American and 50% French oak) then 36 months in bottle before release, giving cedar and tobacco evolution to the plum liqueur and macerated strawberry fruit. Drinking well now but has plenty of life left, thanks to grippy tannins and fresh acidity
