It's not often you see a varietal Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre/Mataro), particularly in UK supermarkets, and this is a great example of the grape for a snip of a price. Rich, dark and brooding, there's an appealing note of cured meat and pepper alongside youthful, fresh blackberries. Brisk acidity refreshes the smooth, smoky, full-bodied palate.
