The name of this sparkler finds its origin in the estate's 'Kings Farm', rather than the royalty. The base wine for the 2014 vintage is fermented in barrel and aged for 7 months in old oak. Golden in colour and incredibly autolytic on the nose due to 52 months of ageing on lees, with a bouquet of biscuits, sourdough, lime, bruised gala apple and a hint of honey. Great richness on the palate, showcasing red apple peel, citrus zest, umami soya notes plus a touch of tannin. Almond and hazelnut on the long, moreish finish. £85 per bottle may seem a bit steep for a festive feast but the quality is certainly premium.
