Ana Diogo-Draper, Amador Touriga/Tempranillo, Amador County, 2018

Tempranillo - the early ripener - gets to the winery almost a month before the Touriga Nacional in this 50/50 blend. The wines are aged separately in oak barrels (25% new) before blending two months before bottling. The result is a supple rose petal and perfume infused wine that dances on the palate with cherry and redcurrant fruit and a grip of white pepper to add a much-needed savoury edge. Silky and floral with lovely weight.
