The 2023 Atlas Wine Cellars Antoxh cabernet sauvignon from Atlas Peak is a blend of 77% cabernet sauvignon (clones 4, 337, and 7), 12% merlot (clone 181), 8% cabernet franc, and 3% malbec, aged for 14 months in 50% new French oak. The winemaker is Dylan Pecchenino, who previously interned at Saxum Winery and James Berry Vineyard. An incredibly easy-going yet stylish wine from Atlas Peak, it features tame mountain tannins that build on the medium-bodied palate, rising to a crescendo of power and muscularity. Layers of white pepper, chaparral, and sandalwood are nuanced by leather, cigar box, and crunchy currant fruit. At the same time, elegant notes of pressed flowers and sage add complexity to the long, refined finish.
