This is a confident domestic Albariño - saline, freshly aromatic, light but softly textured. The cuttings for this wine trace back to the Morgadio Estate in Rías Baixas, planted in the Central Coast of California, just 5.5 miles from the Pacific, a location that shares a lot with O Rosal (coastal wine region in the northwest corner of Spain) - both regions close to the ocean and both protected by a small range of coastal hills. Fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, it does a good job preserving natural variety aromatics. The nose opens with an abundance of aromas — citrus peel, tropical fruit, a hint of sweet white flowers and salt water. The palate brings a light grip, close to crisp apple skins, with a crushed-gravel and tropical citrus peel. Tart and lively finish.
