This wine mostly comes from the Zabala Vineyard in Arroyo Seco, the site in the old Salinas River bed, with very mineral-driven, sandy soils. 15% from the SLH site, Highlands Ranch vineyard in the mid-southern reaches of the appellation. Full malo and 10 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Rich aromatics, with an unctuous character of poached pear and spice, and hints of nutty hazelnuts. The palate is lush, densely fruited, and ripe with stone and tree fruits, a hint of baked apple tart and a fresh finish with just a flourish of ocean salinity.
