It’s not typical of the Darioush style and may result from the difficult 2020 vintage. The bouquet is a bit sappy and resinous with heavy notes of cedar and vanilla. There’s plenty of sweet red berry fruit, but it’s overpowered by glycerin and very sappy tannins. If the alcohol could have been reigned in here, there would be more freshness and Merlot character. It’s a big wine and should be served nicely chilled. Aged 22 months in 75% new French oak.
