The Volcanic Hill is the most powerful and complete of the 1981 Diamond Creek Cabernets, and it is extremely fine. The bouquet of blackcurrant and minerals with nuances of graphite and tar is pure Pauillac, and on the palate the wine is dense, multi-dimensional and very long on the finish. After an hour or two in the decanter this was simply singing. A mere adolescent still.
