The 1999 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon, made by Michael Weis, is super fragrant, with enticing notes of mint chocolate chip. Plush and layered, it showcases robust, long beams of powerful tannins supported by a firm spine of racy acidity. Intensely layered with graphite minerality, it has a salty quality, finishing with dried sage and thyme. It was sampled during a vertical tasting of Groth wines (1982–2022) in early 2024 with proprietor Dennis Groth and winemaker Ted Henry.
