Engelhard is a 6.4-hectare site in Calistoga on Franz Valley School Road. Lovely aromatics of red fruit layered with warm Indian spices and rich cedarwood. Full-bodied on the palate with an approachable quality to the tannins—firmly present yet integrated, forming a solid foundation for the rich fruit character to layer elegantly. The wine leads to a graphite-mineral richness and a loamy earth finish. The Cimenelli family collaborates with winemaker Nigel Kinsman (Wheeler Farms, Kinsman Eades, Accendo), viticulturist David Abreu, and consulting oenologist Michel Rolland. Impansata has two estate vineyards: Engelhard Vineyard on Franz Valley School Road in Calistoga, adjacent to Levy & McClellan, and Simonelli Vineyard on Summit Lake Drive on Howell Mountain.
