A lot of California Viogniers lack acidity. Not this one. It’s fragrant and zingy, with gorgeous aromas of mint and apricot, and an elegance that reminds me of a Condrieu, and it’s less unctuous than previous vintages I’ve tasted. There’s not much of it because Kamen grows the grapes so he can ferment the skins with his Syrah, and there’s none from 2017 because of the fires.
