Ruby with a subtle purple hue, this Pinot shows a good deal of power. Notes of baking spice emerge early, anchored by a core of wild ripe berries and discreet herbal accents, which is also common in other wines from this slightly warmer pocket of the Russian River Valley. The wine was fermented in a combination of oak, concrete, and stainless steel, and aged for 18 months in 38% new French oak. While the oak influence lingers gently on the palate, bright notes of sour plum skin and lifted acidity carry the wine through a long, spicy finish.
