Natural Cork

The vine sources were Spottswoode, Staglin, and Tilting Rock, a site on the climb towards Howell Mountain, with Cabernet Franc from the Frediani Vineyard. The wine was aged for 22 months in 60-gallon French oak barrels. The 1986, tasted in December 2025, remains cool and inviting, showing a forest-berry and conifer character layered with notes of cool, wet river stones. The tannins are very pronounced, lending an almost tar-like, loamy earthiness to the mid-palate. Saline, acid-driven tension underpins the wine and carries it through a long, mineral-rich finish. Super expressive at this stage. Tasted as part of a 37-vintage vertical at the winery in December 2025. Made by Bob Levy.
