This was a rare vintage in which no irrigation was employed. The summer was marked by a heat-spike in late August, followed by a cooler, damper September.

The nose is splendid, with blackcurrant aromas laden with truffle and woodsmoke scents, as well as some piquant red fruits. The rich and velvety palate remains very concentrated, with firm tannins and good acidity. It certainly has presence and structure, but just lacks some drive on the finish.
