The 2023 Cinsault is quite the fashionable operator, lifting out of the glass with notes of raspberry, cherry, and strawberry–rhubarb, alongside vanilla, white pepper, and a dusting of mineral spice. Generous and oozing with succulent fruit, it is framed by a core of subtly chewy tannins that provide a welcome sense of foundation. The Starfield Vineyards wines tend to be incredibly soft and luscious, and while this delivers that in spades, it also brings a touch of grip—an addition that feels both intentional and very welcome.
