The Etoile Vineyard is on the Evenstad estate with west-facing slopes. The top of the vineyard is primarily flat, however. It is largely planted to clones 95 and 76 that give a noticeably creamier texture to focus on minerality and tension. This 2018 vintage was warm and very dry, producing a lush, rich result with aromas of ripe apple, butter, and hazelnut. The wine was fermented in large and small casks, 40% new. There is enough acidity to balance the fruit here, but it is a very rich style.
