The Pumphouse Block at Temperance Hill was planted in 1994 on a steep, eastern-facing slope. The aromatics are wound a bit tightly on opening but evolve over the course of a few hours. There's electricity and minerality in the offing as crunchy red raspberries, mint leaves and an edge of ocean salt air all bound from the glass over time. The palate shows a steely tension, raspberry leaf, briny seafoam and crips red fruits. Fresh cranberries, spiced orange peel, evergreen bough and freshly chopped mint. It's a gorgeous, glorious bottle of wine.
