The West Field Block at the brilliant and dry-farmed Temperance Hill Vineyard was first planted in 1983, and the block climbs about 100ft in elevation, topping out at 800ft. The vines are trained on a single high wire, giving them ample exposure to the winds bursting through the nearby Van Duzer Corridor. Another dazzling Temperance Hill bottling from Marcus Goodfellow shows lively aromatics of wild green strawberries, fresh mint and lilac. The palate is taut and upright on opening, only to reveal dazzling red fruits. A melange of blood orange, fresh cranberry relish, and raspberry leaf transition to notes of dried thyme and mint and a soaring finish of pine tips and wild alpine meadow herbs.
