On opening, this wine is quite shy, and it takes a few minutes in the glass for it to begin showing itself. The 2023 Reserve from Lange is a barrel selection from several top sites the Langes work with. Winemaker Jesse Lange chooses the Reserve barrels for final blending. Eventually, delicate violets and notes of freshly found truffle spill forth. The palate is opulently ripe, retaining freshness as fresh blackberries, cherries, and red plums. It ends where sweet red fruits blend with fresh turned earth.
