Aegrina is a stony, thin-soiled site in the McMinnville appellation, in the foothills of the Coast Range, with low pH soils. Planted with various clones, by block, and this wine is a reflection of the well-tended site. Aromatics of violets, turned soils and sweet red berries. There is a crushed stone minerality, with a sense of wet stone on the mouth, umami and smoke, juicy fruited opulence is framed by a savoury note of smoky, grilled orange peel and an attractive finish of sweet cherry. Winemaker James Cahill finds the cool 2022 vintage and its long growing season give this wine a richness and complexity that remains light on its feet.
