A classic and timeless red blend from the Corliss estate sites on Red Mountain, this wine perfectly balances the power of Washington's hottest appellation with the elegance and finesse of varietal Cabernet Franc, which takes centre stage in this wine. ‘We use a very reductive approach to the winemaking to preserve nuance, particularly with our aromatics,’ says winemaker Adam Toliver. The effusively savoury notes of eucalyptus, dried desert sage and deep bay leaf tones make way for smoky violet florals that reflect the purity of the fruit and terroir in this wine. The blend is 58% Cabernet Franc, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. The palate shows the power of Red Mountain tamed to precision. Fantastically structured tannin, and the six years that have passed have left this wine in a brilliant spot, but it will age beautifully. Dusty black fruits and wild blue mountain berries play alongside mouthfuls of dried anise and savoury sage and mint. It's a ponderous wine melding hedonism and contemplation nearly to perfection.
