Made from organic fruit grown in the high reaches of Tupungato's Gualtallary district, this impressive red spends 8-10 months in second use French oak. The Bousquet family who own this estate moved to Mendoza from Carcassonne in 1990, aiming to bring traditional European winemaking techniques to this New World region. They believe in looking for optimum ripeness in their wines, and indeed there's plenty of full dark mulberry and blackberry fruit here, with some liquorice and thyme notes, and a lick of salinity. A pleasure to drink, with ripe tannins and good acidity – a great match for a juicy steak.
