Not what you'd expect from Eden Valley... Italy's Montepulciano grape found a new home in 2010, grafted onto Riesling vines in a gravel and quartz vineyard. Made by Michael Schreurs, previously winemaker at Henschke, this kicks off with appealing aromas of raspberries and black cherry, tinged with dried rose petal and savoury herbs. Cool climate acidity underlines a palate of juicy plum and just-picked blackberry fruit, with a hint of liquorice spice and gentle tannic grip. Rather moreish!
