Peter Lehmann's Portrait range is designed to showcase renowned Barossa varieties and their classic styles. The long-established producer has access to fruit from across all of Barossa's 14 sub-regions and has blended a selection of vineyards here to produce a wine that was then aged for a year in 10% new French and American oak 300-litre hogsheads. There's a generosity of ripe, dark plum and blackberry fruit, but also a brooding, dark character, with some chocolate and charry characters from the oak ageing. There's also a slight iodine character, typical of cooler-climate Syrahs. Delicious.
