‘Sticky’ wines from Rutherglen in northern Victoria have a unique character. The blazing heat contributes to the style, with Muscat à Petits Grains Rouge (locally Brown Muscat) grapes fortified and left to mature for many years at high temperatures. The resulting liquid is highly distinctive, very sweet, strongly reminiscent of fruitcake and makes a perfect accompaniment to Christmas pudding or vanilla ice cream.

Rutherglen Muscat is a delicious fortified sweet wine, usually (as here) a blend of vintages and made by a solera system over five years or more. It's a real winter treat, with gorgeous grapey unctuousness, and a good streak of acidity to keep it fresh. Amber in colour, with aromas and flavours of fruit cake, raisins and toffee. Perfect match for your Christmas cake or pudding! 300g/L RS.
