This new addition to the Australian red line-up at Waitrose is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 5% Malbec and a seasoning of Cabernet Franc and Shiraz. Named after a wild stallion who roamed the Wilyabrup region of Margaret River in the 1920s, the wine has energy and bold appeal. Great value for a Margaret River Cabernet of this quality – the nose is toasty from 10 months ageing in French oak, there's a definite menthol note, and a generosity of blackcurrant and forest fruits. Some herbiness, smoky oak character and a mocha darkness. Fresh and aromatic, and in perfect balance.
