2018 in Beaujolais was a high-yielding and high-quality vintage. This one might trip you up if you see Fleurie on the label and expect a pretty, floral style. The vineyards border Moulin-à-Vent and the wine is far more in that style – quite dark, robust and firmly structured. The average age of the vines is 60, and wines are made in a traditional style, in concrete tanks and foudres. Fleshy, perfumed plum fruit, juicy and well made. Coq au vin would be a good match.
