Tesco, Finest Chablis Premier Cru, Burgundy, France, 2018

This is only a little more expensive than the Finest Chablis (non-Premier Cru), and is made by the same co-operative, but it offers a definite step up in complexity and intensity. Around 20% of the wine is barrel aged, and the wine is given some bottle age before release. You'll find an attractive nuttiness and minerality, with texture and structure to taste, more savoury than fruity, but with some lemon citrus notes. A lovely dinner party wine.
