Victorine de Chastenay, Crémant de Bourgogne, Burgundy
(at New Malden, Surrey, 31 May 2020)
Drinking Window: 2020 - 2021
A blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Aligoté, this is made from 40-year-old vines and aged on lees for 20 months. Fresh, dry and fruity, with crisp apple flavours and a hint of citrus. Like many crémants, it's not super-complex, but offers a good-value alternative to Champagne and is a step up from many Proseccos.
