It's hard to find drinkable wine at this price point these days, but this Minervois from Languedoc-Roussillon offers spicy, brambly dark fruit flavours. There's some astringency and dustiness, but it's a reasonable drop for a wallet-friendly £5.99.

A good-value, full-bodied red from the Languedoc appellation of Minervois. Plenty of ripe, rounded blackberry and plum fruit here, with a twist of black pepper on the finish and a decent grip that would make it a good match for steak and chips or robust meat dishes.
