Châteauneuf never comes cheap, but this is certainly at the cheaper end of the spectrum. It's a great wine style for the winter months, robust and warming, with Grenache taking the lead in the blend of red grapes. Part of Lidl's core range, this one has good weight and concentration for the price, with spicy, expressive red and black plum fruit, a hint of baking spice, and enough body and tannic structure to match well with meat dishes.
