Madiran is famously tannic, and that's certainly true of this wine, which has a good grip and is a definite wine to drink with food. Domaine de Crampilh is a family-run estate dating back to the 1800s and is in its fourth generation of ownership. They clearly know what they're doing, and this is made in a traditional style, almost liqueur like, with plummy, black cherry flavours. Good everyday, full-bodied red.
