Toni Jost, Weissburgunder, Mittelrhein, Rheingau, Germany 2021
(at QE2 Centre, London SE1, 09 Jul 2023)
Drinking Window: 2023 - 2024
As you'd expect given the Rheingau location, this family estate focuses mainly on Riesling, but also has plantings of Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), new to the Wine Society in this 2021 bottling. It's a lovely vintage, fresh and with good acidity (the 2022 is apparently rounder in character). There's 7.9g/L residual sugar, but it's in perfect balance – this is all about weight of fruit, apple and lemon, with a hint of spice. Clean, juicy and with lovely freshness – easy to enjoy with or without food.
100% Pinot Blanc / Weissburgunder
