Lidl, Lebollé Pinot Noir Viognier Spumante Brut, Lombardy, Italy 2021

Italian fizz at this price level invariably means Prosecco, but Lidl has shaken things up by bringing in two alternatives from the northern Lombardy region as part of its Summer Wine Tour. Instead of the Prosecco grape (Glera), this blends common sparkling wine grape Pinot Noir with Viognier, which isn't as commonly found in sparkling form. It's fairly simple and easy drinking, with soft fruit salad and peach melba flavours. Finishes gently creamy and dry.
