Nebbiolo d'Alba is a good-value route into Piedmont, and this offers even better bang for your buck while on offer at £9.74 (11 November to 1 December). Grapes are drawn from a variety of vineyard sites across 73ha in the region, and the wine is fermented and matured in stainless steel. The wine has a wonderful vibrancy, with delicate aromatics of wild red berries. It's well balanced and wears its alcohol lightly.
