The owners of Marlborough-based Saint Clair, Neal and Judy Ibbotson, were pioneers in the region, growing and selling grapes from 1978, before establishing the estate in the mid-1990s so that they could make their own wine. A regular medal winner at the Decanter World Wine Awards, Saint Clair has vineyards in various sites across Marlborough. This Sauvignon Blanc is made entirely from Wairau fruit, a sub-region of Marlborough known for producing a tropical style, and indeed this is bursting with intense passion fruit character, exotic and full-on in the Marlborough style that has become so popular with consumers. Taste this blind and most wine lovers will immediately identify it correctly as Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc! Exuberant and well-made.
