This entry-level tawny Port from the Douro's oldest Port house is plump and raisiny with soft caramel sweetness, plus notes of fig, dried fruit, demerara sugar and coffee. Made in a youthful style, it's slightly spirity on the nose and there's a hit of alcohol on the finish; it's less refined and complex than more expensive, older wines in the category. Nevertheless it's a good introduction to the style, and would be delicious, slightly chilled, with cheese, mince pies, Christmas cake or chocolate desserts.
