A bit of fun, and worth a try if you want a change from Prosecco but can't afford most English sparkling wines, which tend to sit at Champagne prices. Unlike those more expensive versions, which focus on the traditional Champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, this is made from the Germanic grape varieties that used to be widely planted in England: Reichensteiner, Madeleine Angevine and Seyval Blanc. English hedgerows come to mind on first sip, with a hint of lemon sherbert, followed by mouthwatering zestiness on the finish.
