Pommery was the first Champagne house to launch an English sparkling wine, choosing Hampshire as the location for its vineyard. (Others will follow – Taittinger's Domaine Evremond in Kent, for example, will launch its sparkling wine in autumn 2024.) It's a good debut with a fine, soft mousse, clean, focused and lemony with green apple and shortcrust pastry flavours, juicy depth and a tangy, toasty length. Champagne prices, yes, but Champagne quality too.
