The Auberge is a small barn midway between St Emilion and Libourne. It’s popular, one suspects, as much for its car park as its cooking. No need to spend ages finding a spot in St Emilion or searching for coins to feed a meter. The food is unpretentious, but the meat is very good: an entrecôte and a bottle of youthful St Emilion make for an excellent and inexpensive lunch.
