History:
Most of the 1er Grands Crus Classés that occupy Saint-Emilion’s plateau slopes lie to east and south of the town, but Trottevieille is alone is lying on slopes to the north-east. Before the French Revolution it formed part of the large Laveau family estate, but by the 1980s belonged to the Jean family who owned it for almost 70 years. It is today run by Philippe Castéja, the grandson of Macel Borie (of négociants Borie-Manoux), who bought the estate in 1949.
