Franschhoek: know your vintages

Challenging vintage but good for early-ripening grapes. Wines of generally lower alcohols.

2012

Excellent for Chardonnay and Rhône varieties; good acidity and ripeness.

2011

Great white vintage: elegant wines with fruit purity.

2010

Warm vintage, difficult for some. Some big wines.

2009

Excellent vintage with great balance and potential for longevity.
