Chilean wine exports to the UK have continued to surge – putting Chile second to Australia in terms of New World exports in the restaurant trade.
Official statistics for bottled wine exports show that third quarter growth has increased by 25% in both volume and value on the same period in 2003.
From January to September 2004, just under 5m (4,947,037) cases of wine were shipped to Britain, compared to just under 4m (3,944,250) cases over the same period in 2003.
Chilean wines now make up 6.3% of the UK wine retail market.
